Life is tenacious. This turpentine tree has taken root in what appears to be solid rock, its roots reaching down into crevices and cracks searching for what little soil and even less moisture is available.
Perched high atop Whistling Cay it has undoubtedly been buffeted by high winds and strong squalls. Nonetheless it survives and grows into a mature tree.
