St. John USVI: Gym in Paradise Reopens
Posted by gerald in Life on St. John USVI, tags: st john usvi. gym in paradiseThe latest in St. John’s Gym in Paradise drama is that the establishment is now open again under the auspices of it’s original owners the Swan’s and Bertolino’s of Hardware Store fame. They had sold the business to a character by the name of Mark Dallas, who at the last minute sold memberships at discount prices and skipped with the money.
The policy now is that these memberships will not be honored, but there will be a bone thrown to returning members. Pay for June and get July free.
The gym is basically the same as before, but the place definately looks a cleaner, more intelligently arranged and out of order machines are back in order. There is no new equipment.

Hmmm . . . I have to differ with your description on the the last minute sale of discount memberships at the Gym in Paradise. The three month membership specials were first offered in October for the months of November, December, and January. In Feburary those specials were due for renewal. The hope was that all of the people who bought memberships the first time around would renew those specials. 100 people did not, hence the push to sell the discounted memberships in order to make up the difference. I am personally still owed money for a couple of days that I worked the front desk, so I’m not a big fan of the former owner right now either, but it seems a bit too convient to me to blame all of the problems of Gym in Paradise on former owners or managers. This is tough economy for a lot of businesses right now. I hope the “new” gym succeeds because this community needs a place to work out together. I wish Hardware Abs all the best.
