Anne Higham, who to me always had a good attitude, a warm smile and who was simply a pleasure to be around died early yesterday morning in a car crash on Centerline Road.

According to police, the road was slippery and she apparently had lost control of the vehicle going around a curve. The car went off the road and down the steep hillside.

Anne and Brian Hadley, a passenger in the vehicle, were taken to Myrah Keating Smith Community Health Center, where Anne was pronounced dead. Brian was treated and released.

Goodbye, Anne, we’re going to miss you.

As part of Annie’s family in the states I want to tell her many friends on St. John that the island is and will always be an integral part of her soul. Her sunny demeaner and beautiful smile were a reflection of where she lived and her art will live on as a manifestation of that light. I hope all of you will keep her in your fondest memories as we will. Thank you for being such a beloved community for her for so many years.

St. John Annie was one of the nicest souls I met while briefly living on island last summer. With her vibrant stories and constant smile it was hard to not laugh and have a good time while in her presence. Her art work was impeccable and awe inspiring. STJ Annie, you will be forever missed, please look down upon paradise and bless all.

Not only is St John integral to Annies soul, but Annie is integral to St Johns soul…our Annie Love is now gone from the island formerly known as Love City. The skies above have not stopped crying and grieving since Annie left 9 days ago. Who feels it knows it, Lord.

  13. Susan M. says:

Some times your mind doesn’t catch up with the place some one holds in your heart soon enough. I will miss that “Annie essence” so much! It is hard to put in to words the effect she had on every one and every thing around her. Our Annie was and is such a seamless part of all that is Love City. I am worried about her dog “Mo” and wish I were allowed to give him a final home for his last days, but can’t due to rental regs. Surely, some one else can!
