St. John USVI Fauna: Feral Donkeys (Equus asinus)
Donkeys were used in plantation era for transportation and to operate sugar mills. No longer needed by man, they remain on St. John traveling in small social groups
After fighting a long and losing battle to keep donkeys off the resort property, Caneel Bay has recently chosen to co-exist with their four-legged, non-paying guests. |
